Welcome to the Blackbrush Desk. We’ll post what we’ve been doing, what we plan to do, how we do what we do, what we think, and other interesting items that come across our desks
We pushed the dirt around in the backyard last night in honor of the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. Full disclosure, the weeds were getting thick too but we planted new bushes and ground cover and flowers. I have faith in human beings that we will take care of our little tiny spec in the universe that birthed us and sustains our life. Cheers to one more step in the right direction. The little things matter.

Over the last three years Travis and I have gone through portfolio sites for this company much the way most people go through single serving yogurts. I think this phenomenon has more to do with how much we’ve been learning and changing as designers and business owners than say… an ugly word like “indecisiveness”. We’re happy to announce the launch of our new site and we think this one might stick around a bit. People grow and change, sometimes by the day, so this go around we started with what has become somewhat of a tenet for us. Start gracefully simple, focus on function, and add as the need arises or want makes something impossible to live without – planning for evolution. We’ve stocked our new digs with new client work and personal projects for your perusal. We’d love your feedback on our work and site so feel free to drop us a line at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and tell us what you think. It’s Friday, the sun is out, so no more computer for me!

Tyler & I lucked out for Christmas. Picture a set of these absolutely rad Pantone® mugs. These were my lovely wife’s gift to Blackbrush this year. This one is the exact color of the skies in Seattle today and many other winter days for that matter.
On another note, Happy New Year! We’ve weathered the storm this year and are busy in the studio—newly located on Capitol Hill—wrapping up 2009 and jumping head first into client work and internal projects for 2010.
Lot’s to come including a full site update at blackbrushcreative.com. In the mean time, try to stay dry and warm out there.

Ty, Erin (my wife) and I had the opportunity to attend the screening of Decision to Donate, our dear friend Massimo’s award winning documentary. The film follows Mass’ father and father’s friend through the life changing kidney donation process.
We’ve had a chance to work with Mass and his co-director Alex Rubin on several projects but none as meaningful as this. We are thankful that we could help out in our small way. Being able to support this film and it’s efforts has been inspiring.
Thank you both.

Took in a Mariner loss on Thursday and was amazed to see Cedar Grove Packaging cups at Safeco Field. Proud as hell to have been a small part of this project.
And you can’t beat those $8 bleacher seats on a sunny spring Seattle evening.
